Current Treatment Options

A multi-modal treatment plan is typically employed to manage the tumor and preserve neural function:

Surgery: The primary goal is maximal safe resection, removing as much visible tumor as possible while protecting critical brain regions.
Radiation: Following surgery, targeted high-energy beams focus on the resection cavity and surrounding margins to address microscopic spread.
Chemotherapy: Oral medications, primarily Temozolomide, are used concurrently with radiation and as adjuvant therapy to combat residual cancer cells.
Targeted & Experimental Therapies: Options such as Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) and individual participation in clinical trials explore new avenues like immunotherapy and targeted molecular inhibitors.

Factors Affecting Prognosis

A prognosis refers to the likely course and medical outlook of a condition. It is determined by a combination of clinical factors:

Patient Age: Younger patients often have better physiologic reserves and more favorable outcomes.
Tumor Location: Tumors located in surgically accessible areas often permit more extensive removals, influencing the baseline for recovery.
Response to Treatment: How the disease responds to the initial phase of therapy provides critical indicators for ongoing disease management.
